The People's Republic of China (PRC) experienced its first CSR-Mart™ event in Shanghai recently. The event, organized by Hurun Report and ammado, was to assist matching businesses and not-for-profit specialists. Each participant was given up to twelve 20-minute meetings, which allowed them the opportunity to discuss partnership opportunities, share experiences and identify possible synergies.

The event began with a welcome speech by Hurun Report CEO, Rupert Hoogewerf, and a keynote speech by ammado Head of Global Strategy Terry Farris.

A short two-hour conference on 'Brands with Responsibility' began in the late afternoon. The finale was the highly anticipated result of the RMB100,000 donation from Clearworld Energy, which had offered to donate RMB100,000 to a selected charity. After much deliberation, the company chose to donate the money to Humana People to People China.

Clearworld also announced that they would like to establish a long term partnership with the charity Friends of Rural Community Development.

Participants in the event included Baidu, Wal-mart, HSBC, Citibank, Tiffany, Clearworld Energy, WWF, Amity Foundation, Narada Foundation, Roots & Shoots, Surmang / Amara, FCA.
