Finance Adviser Dr AB Mirza Azizul Islam yesterday appealed to businesses not to do anything that is socially irresponsible at a time when the country faces challenges of price hike of essentials.

Public perception says the image of businesses now is not satisfactory and they are not playing their due role, the finance adviser said at the launch of Business Directory of International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICC-B) in Dhaka.

“Profit maximisation is a basic motive of trading, but social responsibility must not be forgotten," Dr AB Mirza Azizul Islam said.
