CIMB Niaga has set up a shelter for female migrant workers in Kuala Lumpur recently. Launching the shelter was Indonesia's Manpower and Transmigration Minister, Muhaimin Iskandar. The shelter, the result of collaboration between CIMB Niaga and the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur, provides temporary accommodation and food for Indonesian female migrant workers facing hardship, such as being cheated by employment agencies or abused by their employers. Also present at the event were Indonesian deputy ambassador to Malaysia, Tatang Razak, PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk Indonesia president, Datuk Mohd Shukri Hussin, and its chief executive officer, Arwin Rasyid. Mohd Shukri was reported by Bernama to have said that CIMB's contribution in providing the shelter and bearing the costs of its running was part of its corporate social responsibility.
The Kuala Lumpur Indonesian
embassy will be responsible for the daily
running of the shelter, called "Rumah Kita", and security of its occupants. |
