| East Malaysia To Gain From New Community Projects |

Two government linked companies, Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MSBB) and Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas), plan to expand their community-based corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes in Sabah and Sarawak of Malaysia during Ramadan month. MBSB chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali, said this was the two government-linked companies had jointly launched a programme, Korporat Penyayang (K-Penyayang) as part of their CSR. The project was launched last Friday in Kuching by Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud. Taib also received RM100,000, which was jointly contributed by MBSB and Bernas, for distribution to the hardcore poor before Hari Raya.This year, the K-Penyayang project covers 35 villages. Aside from this, MBSB also runs a Home Safety Campaign, which received recognition by the Prime Minister's Department. MBSB also contributes towards the improvement in education, particularly, in the rural areas. |
