Malaysia's Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui, has called on businesses to ensure that environmental issues and climate change must always be a part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). Besides generous financial contributions, Chin encouraged businesses and organisations to work towards developing and implementing sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. Bernama quotes Chin as saying, "I am certain that we will be able to forge a more profound, effective and sustainable approach to both CSR and its sister discipline of socially responsible investments (SRI)... It is imperative that we do so, because without sustainability built into it, CSR will not fulfill its aim to harmonise profits, people and planet."
Chin was reported to have said that CSR has been gaining momentum in the Malaysian business and corporate world. He said that many any companies, particularly those that are public listed, have been
practising CSR for quite some time now in their business operations. |
