A new reforestation programme, called "Hutan Kita-Kiara", will need 500 trees planted for it to be a success. Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Chairman is said to be involved in the initiatived, as it is in line with the company's corporate social
responsibility (CSR) theme, "Powering A Green
Nation".
The "Hutan Kita-Kiara" reforestation programme is being carried out in
Taman Bukit Kiara and has the potential of becoming the green lung of
Kuala Lumpur and a recreational centre. The programme is being organised by the
National Landscape Department, under the patronage of Tun Jeanne
Abdullah.
TNB Chairman, Tan Sri Leo Moggie, was reported to have said, "As a symbolic mark of TNB's 60th anniversary celebration on Sept 1,
TNB will plant 60 trees on that day." According to reports, Moggie said TNB's involvement in this programme was not a new initiative for the company in terms of environmental conservation. He was reported to have said that through the company's 60-year history, taking care of the environment has been
one of the factors TNB has given priority to while carrying out its
duties.
