Two major corporate social responsibility awards took place in the capital recently. The Prime Minister's CSR awards took place on 6 March 2010. At the event, Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, called on corporate Malaysia to assist the government in transforming the nation into a high income economy through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, according to a news report .

The first Prime Minister’s CSR awards was launched in 2007, and is helmed by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. The list of winners are as follows:
Meanwhile, the StarBiz-ICR Malaysia Corporate Responsibility Awards 2009 was held on 5 March 2010. The aim of the awards event is to encourage responsible business practices with more focus on how business practices can be responsible in the ways businesses make their money, compared to what they do with the money once they have made it.
According to a news report , Securities Commission chairman, Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar, who was also the chief judge, said the number of high scorers had increased in both categories: companies with market capitalisation above and below RM1 bil.
