Women and children of Kampung Kalampun have received the benefit of RM30,000, received by CIMB Foundation, CIMB Goup's corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm. Out of the funds, RM10,000 was used for socio-economic programmes for women and RM20,000 for a pre-school facility in the village.
The Kampung Kalampun project is among 130 CSR projects currently being carried out nationwide by CIMB. The current allocation by the foundation is to the tune of RM8.5 milli, according to Ung Su Ling, Senior Director of Corporate Communications for CIMB Group. According to reports, Ung was stated to have said that one of the objectives of the project in Kampung Kalampun is to help the women from the Murut Paluan community have additional income to take care of their families. The women of the village have been given help with the setting up of a plant nursery which will be operated and managed by them. The women also have been given fruit seedlings that they can plant within their compounds, to fruit of which is hoped to generate income for them. Meanwhile, children at the community pre-school have been given aid in the form of school equipment and reading materials. |
