Saudi Arabia: Public-Private Sectors CSR Partnerships Encouraged Print E-mail
Wednesday, 04 February 2009
Saudi Arabia's most recent CSR conference focussed on the partnership of the public and private sectors. Launched in Riyadh today, under the theme 'Constructive Partnership', King Abdullah gave the opening speach, read on his majesty's behalf by Social Affairs Minister, Dr. Yousuf Al-Othaimeen.

King Abdullah called on the Kingdom's private and public sectors to develop sustainable partnerships in his speech.
He was quoted as saying, “The time has come to make social responsibility a reality and not just a rhetoric by the elite... I am happy that the private sector is now fully engaged in this process for developing a culture of social responsibility in the country.”

Among the dignitaries present at the opening of the conference were Secretary General of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, Prince Sultan Bin Salman, Deputy Minister for Social Development, Dr. Awad Raddadi, CEOs, presidents and vice-presidents of companies and businessmen.

The King encouraged participants to deliberate and explore all possible means leading to practical steps and mechanisms for executing and achieving the goals of social responsibility based on realistic measures. The forum, organized by the Social Affairs Ministry, was to enlighten the people about corporate social responsibility (CSR) and set standards through which the ministry could evaluate progress made in CSR.
