Procter & Gamble (P&G) has given to more than USD2 mill in support of the relief and rebuilding efforts in Haiti. In P&G product donations, the amount donated totals more than USD1.2 mill. Including cash and donations from P&G, its employees and retirees, the amount goes over the USD2 mill mark. Aside from product donations, including bar soaps, batteries, bleach, flashlights, laundry detergents, tooth brushes and toothpaste, P&G has committed to providing six million packets of PUR, a technology that purifies contaminated water. These donations are expected to increase over the next two months. In addition to the Company's efforts, all profits from Tide vintage t-shirt sales at www.tideloadsofhope.com during the month of February will be donated to disaster relief in Haiti, and Tide will match donations up to USD250,000. Although the current focus is on addressing urgent needs, Tide's Loads of Hope program also plans to take its mobile laundry service to Haiti.
P&G's disaster relief team began working with humanitarian relief
partners including World Vision, Pure Compassion Ministries, AmeriCares,
CARE, Global Medic, and PSI within 24 hours of the devastating
earthquake and will continue to coordinate closely with them to assist
with relief efforts. |
